I thought I would make a thread for those that are looking for performace parts for their V6 powered trucks. I've found a few websites over the last few months that sell V6 performance parts. I thought I should share the information.

If anyone else has any links, feel free to post them.

If you are wanting headers, you'll more than likely have to stick with shorties. Its all I've been able to find for GMT 400s. They make long tubes for S10s, they might work in a full size but I don't know.
SYTY sells V6 collectors.

Rare parts to look for, GM Performance Blocks that allow a much bigger bore (I can't remember what), GM Performance heads, 18 degree Brodix heads, odd fire 3.48 and 3.75 cranks, cross ram intakes, and Brodix tunnel rams. They are much more than this, but most of it is exotic, such as splayed valve heads and GM Performance blocks with crank supports.

If anyone knows where I can get a 1 piece rear main, odd fire 3.48 or 3.75 crank, I'd like to know. I've only been able to find new billet 3.75 cranks, and I don't see myself spending $3000 for a crankshaft.

Interesting post. Some people really go all out in the name of being different. The new new v6 makes 300 horse so that would be a worthwhile swap into say a RCSB.

Plan on building a V6 for my GMC once I get the time and money. I'd like to find a Bow Tie 4.155 block and a 3.75 crank. But if I don't, I'll just use the even fire 3.48 crank and a .040 over 262 block. I will be using Brodix heads, unless I can find a good deal on somthing else. I'm not sure on the cam yet, but it will be a custom grind, I will keep it somewhat mild and I'll use Rhoads lifters to make up for the bigger cam. I'm thinking about using a cross ram intake with a 600cfm Holley carb, but I'm not 100% sure. I'm thinking I'll use 10.5:1 compression. I aiming for atleast a 350 HP motor, but hoping for more.

I'm not sure why I like the V6. I'd much rather my truch had came from the factory with a 350 or 454, but it came with a 262. I hated the fact it was a 6 cylinder when I bought it, but over the last 3 years the idea of building a V6 has grown on me. I figure, why not.

i was just gona ask why not a v8 but you explained it. building a v6 sounds very expensive though. how much do you think youll have into it? i think a v6 built for super high rpm would be pretty cool but im more of a v8 guy myself. its still interesting to read all of this though

I'm also more of a V8 guy.
Not sure how much exactly I'll have in it. Guessing, I'll say atleast $2,500 and hopefully no more than $5,000.
If I can get the block and crank I want, it should put me at 305 inches. I was planning on using vortec heads, but after you get all of the work done to them, I'm sure you'd be close to the price of the Brodix heads. And the only intake I can find for the vortec heads is the Edelbrock Performer. And the aluminum heads will make the small engine even lighter. It will use Comp Pro Magnums, bee hive springs, guideplates, and stud girdles.
I can't do this right now, its going to be atleast next year before I start on this project.
I'm seriously considering a T56, and using 4.56 gears.

If I do get to build a 305ci V6, I'm thinking about putting a 305ci decal on the sides of a cowl hood. People will think its just a 305 V8, but when they look under the hood they won't know what to think.

I just found this great link for GMPP 90 degree V6 casting numbers. This dosn't list the crank support block, but I'm sure you'd know what it is when you see it. And that was made in the '80s the catalog they are showing is from '06.

The blocks to get would be 10185051 and 25534333. But the 10185051 looks to be the better block because it has steel main caps.

Ported the throttle body, made a little difference in accerelation. And it cruises easier now.

Found some pretty good info and discovered marine intakes. They can be had for both kind of heads and can be single plane. Search eBay, they can be had for around $200.

I've owned two 4.3's, and from a V8 guy's perspective, they have surprised me in a couple different ways. I like the mileage that they are capable of, as long as you keep your foot out of 'em, & the low/mid-range pull that they have. But, they're not a V8.
The '98's V6 is dead. It wil get an LS swap, eventually. My '97 runs like a top, & it has great oil pressure & compression. Being that that truck has a stick, it would so much more fun with increased power.
When I've gone looking for performance parts for these engines, the stuff I've found has been limited. Either barely worth the time or expense for the gains achieved.
So, I've been leaning towards the Pro-charger, or a turbo mounted under the truck, (stealthy!)
Thanks for the links! This is more info in this one thread than I've been able to find in years.
This IS the best forum for these trucks! Thumbs up!

My plans keep changing but in all honestly, I'm done changing my mind about whats next. It's already got a little work done to it. Next on the list is install headers, probably this week and after that it's either flow matched injectors or AC delete. Then I'm saving up for a 3000 Yank and a Transgo HD2 shiftkit. Eventually getting '96+ cam, worked '96+ heads, marine single plane, and a few other things but that's gonna be at the least 2 years from now. I've had my truck for over 5 years and wouldn't trade it for anything. It's proved itself time and time again, the whole truck has.
