sold a gentleman a jasper rebuilt trans we pulled out of a truck with a bad motor, he says it slips in 1st and reverse, and all other gears work fine, im told it could be a cracked filter, any other possible causes?

Its probably not suction on the dipstick its probably the little rubber gasket catching on the tube. and the slipping is probably just worn clutch packs.
