Nick i think i finally found a 2 peice for sbc. This looks like a 298 and sbc housing.. 4wd. Can you confirm this would work in my 96, with a change of the t-case? (Or will i also need new shafts and cross member mounting)

Someone wrote 5.3 on the outside but I thought there was no such thing as a 298 behind an LS? (Also didnt think there was 5.3 tahoes in 99) ...idc if i needs a rebuild. The 2 peice and newer t case are what I'm after.

That will work.

The LS style bells have a bolt hole at the 12 o'clock location and a 300mm input shaft with splines that go all the way to the front end of the shaft where as the SBC-compatible 4L60Es have an piloted input shaft like the one in your pictures.
