For this 1998 2500 Suburban, 138K two weeks ago.
Seems to run and drive better, As usual you find little things they don't tell you about. Like
After two days of rain the driver's side carpet is soaked. I think it is leaking from the top left so i cleaned the entire top of the windshield and as far as i could down the side and sealed it up. Lifted the carpet up and let a hair dryer run under it all day till it got dark. Carpet and pad were 99% dry. Raining now so tomorrow ill know if it's fixed or not.
Changing the oil i found the oil filter was the tightest one i have ever seen in my life!! Man that fkr was so tight i had to use a long screwdriver and catch the ring right at the housing and pound it off. I don't know how long that oil had been in there or if the filter had been changed in the last 50k miles but after changing with full synth 5W30 it has 22PSI at a hot idle.
Changed the trans filter and about 5qts fluid. Nothing special to note here was very easy and nothing really to even see. Trans shifts smooth and work fine.
This weekend ill change the diff fluids and transfer case fluid. New wipers.
Looking for some wheel/tire combos now. Has 245/65-16 now. Reading i can fit 275/70-16 on it with stock suspension but not really sure.

Well i think the leak is fixed. Although my carpet is still a little damp from not drying completely it is not splashy soaking wet like before with the rain we had overnight so im hoping.
Dang totally forgot to mention the other problem im having. The dreaded extended crank.
I know get a gauge and it will tell all but im kinda too lazy to go get one.
So when we met to check out our trucks we met in the middle about 40-mile drive for both. This suburban started just fine two or three times no problem.
We made out trade receipts and signed our titles and we were both on our way no problem.
I had to stop and get gas and after filling up and hitting the key it took about 5ish seconds to start up and seems to usually start hard most of the time.
So once i got home i check it out a little and nothing obvious so started reading the forums and found this is a common problem with our older 7.4L trucks. and the cure is everything from a bad vacuum line to the FPR to the fuel pump.
So i started replacing parts cuz im too lazy to go buy a fuel pressure gauge.
The next weekend i replaced the FPR and the engine temp sensor and valve cover gaskets. It helped a lot but.
The problem is not consistent. Some days it fires up with just a touch of the key and other times not. The time running and not varies, so that's not a factor i believe.
I have found it starts fine when cold in the morning or when up to temp. When not fully warmed up it will start hard almost every time. Odd but is what it is.
When i had the intake plenum off i pressurized the fuel system and looked at the injectors and it looked like 4 were maybe leaking but no 100% certain as there were no drips or anything but maybe a little seeping.
So next item is the PITA fuel pump.
Seems to me though a bad fuel pump would make it hard to start all the time not just when it's partially warmed up. Maybe a bad(new) engine temp sensor?
TL;DR
Read it we both might learn something :33:

Ok have a tire wheel question and i know it's been asked 1000 times but now it's my turn.
I parked on a level concrete slab today and measured from the ground to the top of the wheel well and all 4 places measured 36 inches.
I don't need or want the absolute biggest tire that would fit with slight rubbing as too big looks kinda funny without a lift anyway.
So im thinking 275 or 285/75ish-16
What ya'all think?

I changed the fuel filter today and as you might guess that did not help but was a necessary part of the fuel system maintenance anyway.
I ordered a new Delphi fuel pump and Bosch injectors today that will be here next week. Big project next weekend hope the weather is decent enough. I should be down to about 30 gallons of gas so ill need to barrow some gas cans from a few friends.
Other than that here are a couple interior pics. Ill need to order some new bottom seat covers after i get all the mechanical fixed. Someone already replaced them with cheap vinyl ones that do not match at all. Ill get the leather covers. Look better and should last a lot longer. The rest of the interior is great so no problems there.

I had 285/75-16 tires on my truck when I bought it. The torsions were cranked and the tires chewed on the side fender/bumper filler and the back of the fender flares (the axles were pushed back 1"-1.5" though from the previous owner's abuse) and it still ate the front. I hated them. I put 235/85-16 tires on and de-cranked the torsion bars.
