th400 to 700r4 swap?

I was at LKQ a couple weeks ago and saw an Express van with 8-lug axles and a 4.3. It weirded me out.

Yep, those were made. Also had a 4L80e to boot. I don't remember the axle, but either a 9.5/10.5" 14 bolt or a Dana axle.

They are actually still using the 4.3 on the the current generation of vans as the base engine. Well, the Gen V (LT) version of the 4.3.
