Walmart,Burger King,Mcdonalds, etc moved in here and drove all the mom and pop businesses out. I wish they would all burn to the ground.
That's Walmart's business model. Drop prices artificially low to hurt small competitors, then once they go under raise the prices right back up.

And push the cheapest chinese garbage they can get their hands on.
The fast food joints let their grills and deep fryers get so nasty the food comes out smelling like they scooped it out of a septic tank. I've got pretty much a cast iron stomach and Taco Bell made me sick as a dog.

Yep. I think that a thread about local businesses would be awesome.
Ill start with a guy called "The Rebuilder" in Kent, Washington.
A little hole in the wall place that has been in business for 29 years.
I have taken many starters and alternators to this guy over the years
I just took my alternator to him because it had bad bearings.
Yes, bearing replacement on an alternator or starter is pretty easy.
But I dont have a growler.
And I have to order the parts from Amazdumb and hope that they send me the right part.
And then sit on the front porch next to my get the **** off of my lawn sign and fend off the tweekers.
This guy has OEM parts in stock.
Its about a 15 mile drive but I dropped it off at 10 am and he said come back at 2:30
So I shifted into emergency **** off mode and had a nice lunch and wandered through a local antique store and bought a cool Citizen eco drive H501 chronometer for 8 bucks.
Came back at 2:30 on the spot and he charged me 30 bucks.
30 bucks for new bearings, load tested, diode tested and cleaned.
If you are anywhere in the Seattle Tacoma Bellevue area?
This is the guy

Bring it in tomorrow morning.

My alternator was an ancient POS rebuild.
