Starting problem on a 97 Z71

Hey guys I have just recently bought a new starter and now my truck will not start! I have checked wires, relays, and all other things. My battery is good and my alternator. When I turn my key the motor makes a knocking noise that sounds like the starter trying to engage.. I have no clue any help would be appreciated!!!

Do you hear the starter grinding?

Does the truck turn over but not fire?

Does it turn over?

Are you sure battery is charged.
Is starter tight.
Did you test old starter to see if it was bad before you replaced.
Did you bench test new starter (or have parts store do it).

Make sure your battery terminals are tight and clean.

I had similar issues, was the terminals corroded.
