I have to jump relay under hood to start my truck, ignition will go into run position and come back, full range if you will, replaced relay under hood and no luck, turn to start and everything appears to work, signal wise no theft light on nothing, need help.

Does it start in neutral?

The problem should be between the ignition switch and the relay. Here’s the diagram for a 98. See if the Crank fuse is blown, otherwise you’d check for voltage at connector C266 (pin D1) when cranking to verify the ignition switch.

Transmission range switch is also in the voltage path so if those pass then it would be the next to check.

Please don't start cobbling on sketchy stuff. You can do more harm than good. Get the OE service manuals available here in forum, from there you, we , can get your problem fixed.

If the radio, wipers and windows work otherwise, then it’s probably the ignition switch since they’re powered through it.
