sm465 transmission??????

has anyone swapped a sm465 in one of these trucks. mines an 88 with a 700r4 i believe i got the sm465 for free and it is poppin out of 1st or 2nd depending on how you look at it i also got the transfer with the trans and later this year im goin to put a solid front axle under it unless any of you know how to adapt my stock transmission with the transfer i got? any help or advice would be appriciated

My old 89 came factory with a SM465. Its a pretty durable transmission but with no over drive your mileage will suffer. It is a good old fashioned truck transmission so it will be noisy, long throw and pretty simple.

I agree with the guy above they're good if you don't wanna go over 55 and you don't wanna have any gas mileage and it's a loud ass Trans but you cant hurt it.. I tried lol

I've had 2 SM465 's one had 4.10's and got 11mpg in a 2wd 350 eclb 2500. The other was in a 88 eclb c2500 350 but got 15-16 mpg w/ 3.2x installed, it still had plenty of power but I used low more.

Currently 373 10 bolt n I'm getting like 9 to 12 outta a 350 ecss

Mileage & durability = nv4500 5 speed when I had my nv3500 which is the weaker of the 5 speeds I was pulling down Atleast 15+ mpg

If you want to get a guestimate on what your mileage would be and what its like with no overdrive just put your truck in drive for awhile and not use your overdrive. Chances are you wont like it.
