S10 nv3500 transmission in a 1500?

I was unable to find a rwd 5 speed near me for a full size l, but found a ton of s10 nv3500s, so that's what I'm thinking of using. I know that one from a 4.3 truck will bolt up to the small block, and it will require slight crossmember mods. What I am wondering is if anyone knows where the shifter will end up? Will it be right up to the seat or will I have enough room for a bench seat? Has anyone done this swap before?

Where are you located? I’ve got one that I might be selling at the end of September. It’s got ~250K on it. Will be coming out of a ‘92 C1500

@Jebadiah Why did the OE one fail?
If the OE unit, designed for a 1/2 ton couldn't hold up, do you really think one meant for a 1/4 ton truck will be better?
