1991 Chevy 1500 crank no start

My 91 Chevy 1500 always ran fine until one day I parked it, it sat over night then the next morning I tried to start it and it wouldn’t start. It will start on starting fluid but then die. So I assumed it was a fuel issue and the fuel pump was bad but I listened to it when I turn the key and it is priming. I am not that mechanically inclined so I don’t really know what I’m doing and I wanted to see if anyone knew what was up.
