thats the size difference. ad244 are large case. cs130 is small case i believe. even a large case 150a alternator will have a higher idle output than a 150a small case. at least on vortec trucks, an ad244 is a direct swap, may just need a longer belt if anything. im not sure about your 93, i think they used an old square style connector on those versus newer oval style.
budget is totally understandable. if you have a pick n pull you can definitely try to find a newer GM truck and pull the alternator from there but make sure the plug is a 4 pin wide oval (may only have 3 pins populated) and not 2 pin wide plug because GM switched to PCM controlled alternators mid-late 2000s. im not sure how much ad244's are for early 2000s chevys but may be worth looking into. if you do find one at a pick n pull you'll probably need to steal the connector off it too and replace your existing plug with it (or buy an adapter harness if you dont want to cut/splice). my 99 had a single brown wire on the factory alternator harness, wired to the L terminal on the alternator itself, and that was all that was needed to turn on a new alternator.
i'm sure someone else may have better ideas, but thats just my opinion.
