Remote start, program original fobs

Sorry if this has been talked about but I purchased a 98 sierra that has a "Rattler" remote start on it. I don't care about the remote start I just want the fobs I just got to work. I put the paper clip in ports 4 and 8 and I got nothing, the truck didn't lock and unlock. Does the remote start disable the ability to program your own fobs?

Generally speaking yes, any aftermarket alarm/keyless system will disable anything related to the factory keyless system.
