Gonna be changing the 305/700r4 in my '89 Cheyenne to an LS/4l60E this fall. In order to get ready, I figured to replace the existing radiator with a new one, and find a cooling fan setup. In my last swap, I used a Windstar fan assy. which worked well, but it stood about 6.5" off of the radiator core, and was very close to the front engine drive assy. (5.3 from a '05 Tahoe in an '80 squarebody C10). After a lot of interweb and boneyard searching, I found that a fan assy. from an '08 Chrysler Sebring would just about fill the face of the 28"x17" core of the stock 350 GMT400 radiator. It covers all but the upper and lower cooling fins by 1/4". I built a lower support using 1" x 1/8" aluminum angle, attached to the lower core bridge, with 2 studs to locates the fans assy. at the bottom for easy removal if needed. The upper fastening is done with 1"x 1/16" aluminum angle, attached to the fan assy., then secured to the upper core bridge by screws and threadnuts which are placed in the bridge. The fan assy. is spaced above the core by 1/8" top and bottom so as not to rub on the core. The sides are sealed using open cell sealing foam strips. All of this will be controlled with a PWM unit from the Autocoolguy.com. BTW, the fans are 13 1/2" diameter, and the whole assy. is just 4 1/2" in height.
