I don't believe that the original poster meant physically cutting the fuel lines. I believe that he is in reference to an inertia valve which stops the fuel flow in the event of an accident and is not used in this particular era of truck.

I could be wrong and this is just general thinking, no idea your financial situation or how much damage, but if everything but the rear-end is fine it may not be a huge leap to fix it up. Guess that heavily depends on if the frame is damaged or not.
