overhead console ??

Usually, there is a scan function with your remote and the console reading the code from your remote. I'm not positive how it works, but that is my very little experience with them.

I'm not sure if it is called a homelink. But it is the stock overhead console out of a 99 Yukon.

Normally all you need to do is push the "learn" button on the back of your garage opener, then push whatever button you want to use for that particular garage on your homelink for a few seconds.

the homelink on my wifes old 01 monte was set by holding the outer buttons for a set time and then push the desired button to use for the opener while pushing the openers own remote button by the homelink
