What does it do the oil/motor?

It aerates the oil in the pan by the crank hitting it. Foamy oil doesn't carry heat as well.

Not exactly, but if overfilled, it will puke fluid everywhere when hot. this is why gm went to a locking trans dipstick. if it can't push enough out the vent, up the dipstick it goes and lands straight on the exhaust. then you end up with something like this

Holy ! That's crazy! What's the capacity on a 4L60E? I'm gonna change the fluid and filter soon, want to put the correct amount in

Aerated tranny fluid expands as said and can cause odd shifting and over heat. If there is that much pressure to push the dip stick imagine what it does to seals.

The odd shifts happens alot in Allison trannies, they say to only get 1/2 between full and low lines.

Hmmm I think I need to do a tranny cooler aswell, my trucks fluid is just ran through the rad, and do a fluid change and top it up

Mine does shift odd at around 80km/hr 3rd gear is very short
