Ok ill try keeping my question short. Im doin a k30 with a 12v build. Both trucks have autos but im goin for a manual trans. K30 has a 205 t/c which I've heard can be use with a chevy nv4500 behind a cummins. Well I found one in a 4.3 v6 4x4. I know I have to swap input shafts and bellhousin but will this trans woek behind a cummins or do I need a nv 4500hd from a different truck

If its from a 4.3 v6 truck it's most likely not a nv4500 it's probally a nv3500 but your best bet is a dodge nv4500 with the 5 gear fix and a chevy tail shaft easily done

You can swap out out shafts to make it bolt to chevy 205 but the dodge nv4500 better have the 5th gear fix before u run it or youll be takin it back out for a complete rebuild if that nut comes off

There is no such thing as an output shaft on an NV4500.

Chevy MAIN SHAFT has 32 splines, while dodge MAIN SHAFT has 29 splines. You can convert a dodge tranny to chevy, or vice versa by installing an appropirate main shaft (with all associated parts). This info is for 4wd trannies. Do not use a dodge gas NV4500 as they are all wrong, unless it was found behind a V10.

You have two options if you wish to used your chevy 205:
1. Use a 96+ chevy nv4500 with a dodge belll housing and input shaft (all bolt in)
2. Use a dodge NV4500 and find a dodge 205 TC input shaft to use in your TC, or better yet, just use the whole dodge 205 but they are getting harder to find.

Good luck.

Thanks adam, that's pretty much the info I was looking for.. im still tryin to learn more about the whole custom drivetrain setup. I had known about only bein able to use the Cummins or the v10 dodge nvs. Reason I want to try usin the 205 I got is cause the cheapest dodge 205 I've found was 800 bucks. Nothin goes all the cheap trans an t/c wise near me lol
