I always like to run a mechanical sender when firing up an engine for the first time .....MSD ignition controller unit ECT to factory 2 pin sender is now in the passenger head. I removed the "plug" from the head to insert the sender there. Drivers head has my mechanical sender and adapter . For 5.3 swap guys use M12 1.5 adapter to 3/8 NPT coolant temperature sensor adapter. I FINALLY hope to fire this engine up this weekend .

Well its been a long road up to this point as I have been taking my time .....so I FINALLY tried to start her today for the first time. It would not start. Cranked fine , all voltages good ,MSD 6014 ignition controller then threw an error when hooked up to my laptop "crank sensor fault" . So I ordered a crank sensor , it should be here tomorrow and I will try again. From what I have read on the net these MSD 6014's can be troublesome and create no starts . I checked all my power wiring, voltages at the box ,grounds etc all is good. Coil packs are wired correctly too etc .....we shall see :( I am not confident this sensor will fix it .

Well I did something really stupid so my MSD wasn't bad and my crank sensor was not bad ....this am before my crank sensor arrived I decided to check cabling etc with the colored MSD diagram. Anticipating starting it the other day last minute I pulled the crank and cam sensor cable and wrapped it in loom all the way to the connector...when I reconnected the two connectors I swapped them. I had cam to crank and crank to cam both 3 pin connectors. I swapped them this am and it literally fired up first key turn. I have Hella exhaust leaks and a horrible groaning power steering pump but I have 40 psi idle and it got to 190 idling in the driveway for 20 mins at 81 degrees today here in Florida . Duhhh. She's running finally. https://photos.app.goo.gl/uDyECbpN5dfDVdxd7
