I'm not looking for a sporty transmission, but something reliable, especially off highway.I don't think an NV4500 would be a good choice. I've never driven one, but it's my understanding that it's not a sporty transmission.

What do you think about the 12 bolt?Keep it running as long as you can;
You could do a 14 bolt rear end
swap.

As far as I know, a 12 bolt would need modification to drop into a k1500, I think new shock mounts and spring perches. If you already have one, and a good welder, you could probably stick it in fairly easy, just need to cut and weld your old mounts onto the new axle.What do you think about the 12 bolt?
If you are looking for a heavier axle, that would be a good ticket.Looking around, it appears that a 14sf from a Z71 is a direct swap, and I would be able to keep my 6-lug wheels. Does this sound like a good swap or is there something I'm missing?
If not in a Z71, the 14 bolt is pretty easy to spot, you could nab one out of any 3/4 or one ton with one.
