So by what that article says would it help to stay out of overdrive?

It would probably help. But the higher RPM's will build heat as well. I know enough about transmissions to know I don't want anything to do with them and leave the work to someone more qualified...and has a hoist lol

You stay out of overdrive (especially when towing) because the overdrive sections of most transmissions are weak.

Event the "mighty" 4L80e has a weak overdrive section. A healthy 6.5 can roach it with careless application of torque.

700r4's and 4l60's are in dangerous territory towing heavy behind a built small block in OD....
