Broke down and bought the new Bosch units from FiveO.

But now to save $ on the service I will probably paint the VCs and plenum myself. Any recommendations for GOOD engine component paint?

Will dig into this weekend.

I used POR-15 high temp caliper paint on the intake (partly because it’s what I had) then clear coated it with regular automotive polyurethane clear to give it that glossy look. It still looks great, but it has discolored a little near the egr valve. For the valve covers I used Eastwood high temp engine polyurethane. It’s very durable and chemical resistant. I highly recommend it.

What makes you want to paint the intake manifold? Is it badly corroded?

The textured cast aluminum stains super easily and does not scrub out simply.

Nothing in a rattle can will hold up to chemicals. There is a variety of paints that will take the temperature though. VHT comes to mind.

Yeah I am wondering if a automotive grade eurethane with 4k clear will hold up. I could have my local autobody shop mix them up in cans for me.

Alternately i could shoot it with the air compressor and gun like I did the hitch and some brackets but that was a lot of hassle to shoot thru the compressor which is not really up to the task. Came out great tho.

A cheap automotive spray gun and any air compressor will do the job. You just might only be able to go as fast as the compressor allows.

Here’s a link to what I was referring to.

You could potentially skip the base clear approach that I took on the intake and just use the gloss silver engine paint from Eastwood. With enough coats it should start to flow out nicely over rough casting. Just don’t do more than two coats at a time and be mindful not to build it up too thick where the bolts go.

4k??? You mean 2k, right? I've never heard of 4k clear? Although I "think" there's 4k TVs now
