Update: right now the engine is demonstrating no problems and idles fine at 750 RPM. Acceleration is great, no missing. Other than checking for vacuum leaks, guess I can check for stored codes and hook up a oil pressure gauge to check for my dash gauge working correctly

Idle Air Control valve. Regulates the amount of air entering the intake manifold at idle, therefore stabilizes idle speed.
