I dont know what i have, can you help me?

I was given an 89 c2500 reg cab long bet 6.2l diesel truck. The lady's husband painted it to look like wood(its ugly) the rpo codes in the glove box are gone. How do I find out what I have without taking it all apart to find axle id/options it has. All the I'd plate are missing. The odometer says 89k which I think is good. My 91 k2500 has 320k on it so 89k isn't to bad.

If you know someone in the parts department at a Chevrolet dealer, you can give them the last eight digits of the vehicles Vin number, and they should be able to tell you what you have.

To find the gear ratio, jack up the rear end, give the tire one rotation, and see how many times the driveshaft spins during that rotation.

X2 on the dealer thing, or do a vin lookup online, but take the free ones with a grain of salt. Compnine costs money, but is apparently accurate.
