The replacement handle is really nice, metal, heavy, sturdy, smooth action. The plastic clips however are kinda cheesy, pretty soft plastic we’ll see how well they last. The bezel is also nice. Way better than the Dorman junk.
One of my rods kept popping out. It had less than a 90* bend in it so I tweaked. (Both rods have been tweaked and bent many times in an attempt to keep the old handle functioning)
Here’s some pictures, the only tools I needed were a T40 torx socket, ratchet and some pliers. It’s a pretty straightforward task.
This handle has been bent and tweaked so many times.
I’ve also tried so many different rod clips. Including but not limited to drywall anchors with rtv, wire nuts, zip ties, vacuum hose, duct tape, bailing wire etc…
Undo the 3 T40 torx bolts from the bed side of the tailgate.
Undo the rods and rotate the handle 90* down and out.
To be continued…
