There are metal clips that grip onto plastic tabs on the trim pieces. Often the plastic that holds the clips breaks when the panels are removed. If you are lucky, the metal clips will be deformed and you can just buy new ones. If you dont see any metal clips, start combing the junkyards or ebay for new panels. They are getting hard to find, and more expensive.

In other words, they pop on and off with spring loaded clips. The plastic lip that holds the metal clips sometimes breaks off and then they cannot be popped back on.

My guess is if they are off that is likely the problem, otherwise someone would have popped them back into place.

Align it where it is supposed to go and see if there are metal clips aligned with any holes that they would click into. Good luck!

Which panel "across the window"?
The upper one with the O/H interior light or the one under the window? They attach differently & in a different order.
Are the side panels the short ones or the floor to ceiling long ones?
IIRC, the early 400's got the long ones except for the W/T's.
