Paging @1ton-o-fun ....he does compnine VIN reports for members, (or at least used to, he's not on much lately).
I think LO5 is TBI 5.7/350. GT4 is 3.73 gears and G80 is the Gov Lock limited slip differential. C6P is the one ton chassis? Or regular pickup heavy duty chassis? V76 is towing package or front tow hooks, I think (my truck has that code too).
Just looked up the codes. GT4 is 3.73 gears. G80 is LSD, C6P is GVW 8,600 LBS is this the 1 ton or HD? There are two L05 codes. One is 5.7 gas 8 cyl. The other is engine 5.7L TBI. V76 is hooks front tow.

Yup. Tow hooks for the front were optional on many models. I was surprised my truck has them, except it was a farm truck. So the original owner probably spec'd it with certain things he figured he'd need.
8600# gvw is basic one ton or 2500HD(8 lug). Mine is 9000/9200# because it's a crew cab. They also have the heaviest frames, except for the 3500HD that came later.

Greetings from Vermont. Have a new to me 88 Silverado 2500 HD. Just brought it home from Florida. Most trucks of this vintage in Vermont are long gone. RUST. Needs some work. Looks like this is a good forum to help. Thanks in advance.

Hello Bowtiehigh,

I pulled the following VIN decode chart from the '88 C/K Service Manual, and according to the
5th digit (K) and 6th digit in your VIN (3) ...you are the proud owner of a 1-ton K3500 truck:

You must be registered for see images attach

Note: This correlates to what @Caman96 shared in post #20.

The 3 GVWR RPO codes you would be interested in are:

C6P = 8600 lb.
C6U = 9000 lb. (Single Rear Wheel)
C7A = 10000 lb. (DRW)

I just checked the VIN on my '99 C2500, and sure enough the 6th digit
is a (2). Interestingly, I share the same C6P code, so mine is the heavy
'3/4 ton' truck.

Looks like you have a very capable truck to either work or enjoy as you see fit.
:)
