The downside, is that without a shield on the tip of the bulb, it allows direct viewing of the filament. With the OEM light housings I see this as a non issue. With some clear aftermarket housings, you may be able to view the filament directly at certain angles.
Agreed 100%. I'm thinking those Brazilian Arteb brand housings that we looked into in the other thread paired with HIR low and high beam bulbs would have the potential to be one of the best (if not THE best) combo that one could possibly put together for a factory style composite setup. I've been trying to find a repackaging company in Brazil that would ship them to the USA but I haven't had any luck. Most of the sites I've found have no option to be displayed in English, and Google Translate doesn't do a great job on some things. Wish I could just find someone in Brazil who could order them from that Wal-Mart listing and ship them up here.
Maxxima has also jumped into the drop-in LED replacement game. Though I think they look a little bit ricey compared to Truck-Lite, they may be an option for some.

Interesting, haven't seen those before. I agree, I like the reflector design in the Trucklites more. The Maxxima might be a good option for someone who wants an all chrome reflector design for aesthetic reasons though.
EDIT - Links to what I'm talking about, so people reading this don't have to dig for it.
