Just recently joined the site and have found answers to several questions already.
But I'm having trouble with headlights. I need a good bright set. I've already had a cheaper set from
ebay that was junk. Then I bought a set from carid that were projector headlights. They cost $188. They
look cool but that's as far as it goes. They dont even set straight in the truck.
I'm not really worried about what kind they are, I just want a really good set of headlights that fit the
truck and put out a lot of light.
I'd appreciate any info.

Thanks,

Haven't seen projectors for these trucks yet that weren't garbage in terms of fit and light output. Junk, all of 'em. Unless you do your own projector retrofit which is a big job...it's definitely been done by a few people though and you'll find at least one of those projects posted here, if not more.

Some of the best aftermarket lights were TYC Elegante but they're out of production now as far as I know. The matching park lamps have been impossible to find for at least a couple years. They look pretty good as long as you don't mind a slightly ricey appearance. But for what it's worth, they don't fit perfect either and depending on the truck can take a lot of adjusting before they look right. Each set I installed I had to knock off the locator dowels on the bracket, and in some cases slot the bolt holes and also drill new holes in the core support to make clearance for the backs of the adjuster screws since they no longer went into the original holes for that purpose.

For what's available today, dunno, though someone else was just recently posting about it. I'll link it back if I see the thread.

Here's a projector retrofit thread http://www.gmt400.com/forum/showthread.php?7161-Hid-projector-retrofit

Recent post about headlights, the ones BoxerPitMix got are called K2 Motors, you might also see if VIP MOTOZ has any as they seem "decent" quality - http://www.gmt400.com/forum/showthread.php?31481-Headlights

If you were thinking on going HID for brightness please see here http://www.gmt400.com/forum/showthread.php?2527-***Your-HID-Questions-Answered-Here-***

For what it's worth, I've had no issues with the Anzo lights in both of my trucks. No fitment issues, no leaking, and they're bright.

EDIT - These are what I run.

(I linked to these on Summit because for some strange reason GMT400.com physically alters some Amazon links that I post... Every single time I try and put in the Amazon link, it alters and redirects to rakuten.com as soon as I post. No idea what is up with that. Mods? Admins? Any idea? Anyway, they're cheaper on Amazon. Just search the part number.)

Side note, as long as you use a decent set of bulbs the factory style halogen setup is plenty bright, especially if you do the 4-Hi mod. Personally I recommend GE Nighthawks for the headlight bulbs. Very bright and no blue tint to them like the SilverStar Ultras and stuff. Just make sure you get the standard NightHawks, not the fancy ones. These are the ones you want.

This is good advice. Polish out the stock headlamp lenses, install a 12ga wiring harness for the bulbs, and do the 4 HI mod. I used Philips XtremePower bulbs for the lows, and Osram Night Breakers for the highs. CandlepowerForums has more info about auto lighting than you would ever want to know.

Wet sand and clear will give more permanent results than polishing.

All three steps combined = best results. Wet sand, polish, clear.

But not all headlights can be saved. I just pulled originals off my 80K mile '06 yesterday that were absolute garbage. A whole web of tiny little cracks throughout the plastic. I also pulled some non-op HID's from the truck too; I'll go ahead and guess they're 55W due to the lens damage.

I've never polished before clear. How well does the clear stick after polishing?
