Another option, if you know you have the original rear end, is to go to any GM dealership. Go to parts & provide them with your vin#. They can provide you with a complete RPO list of how your vehicle was built.

My 97 has no tag under the hood. The RPO codes, are on the glove box door.The RPO TAG in the engine compartment just to the right of your master cylinder on the firewall should have the OEM code.

yeah but it shows even less than I remembered. At least I know I have an 88 with a 5.7L and a solid color truck, lol.Huh, didn't know they continued the RPO tag under the hood on the 88's.
