My 98 Z71 Silverado has the HD suspension package with the 14 bolt in the back. I'm going to do the front suspension and the steering, and was wondering if there is any difference in parts up front from the standard four wheel drive k1500.

I've been looking at ordering these catch all kits from 1a auto.

Wheel hubs/brakes $170

both upper control arms with preinstalled balljoints and bushings - $261

Finally a 14 piece rebuild kit for the front that includes: $115
http://www.1aauto.com/suspension-kit-with-hd-links-front/i/1asfk01858?f=810169&y=1998
FRONT Steering Kit Includes:
(2) - FRONT UPPER Ball Joints - LH (Driver Side) & RH (Passenger Side)
(2) - FRONT LOWER Ball Joints (45.79 mm Diameter Press-In Type) - LH (Driver Side) & RH (Passenger Side)
(2) - FRONT Tie Rod Adjusting Sleeves - LH (Driver Side) & RH (Passenger Side)
(2) - FRONT INNER Tie Rods - LH (Driver Side) & RH (Passenger Side)
(2) - FRONT OUTER Tie Rods - LH (Driver Side) & RH (Passenger Side)
(2) - FRONT Sway Bar Links - LH (Driver Side) & RH (Passenger Side) Heavy Duty Design
(1) - FRONT Pitman Arm
(1) - FRONT Idler Arm

I realize that I don't need the upper ball joints in that kit as they come with the control arms. There are also kits specifically for stamped or forged control arms, how do I tell which I have?

Because I have the HD package, is there any difference between parts?

Is there anything else I should keep an eye out for replacing? I want to do it all at once. I might look into the steering gear as well.

Thanks.

Truck in question, it has new tires now...

All those parts will be correct. All 6 lug 1500s and 2500s run the same front suspension and steering stuff, and all the 8 lug 2500s and 3500s run the same stuff. They are not, however, interchangeable. As to your question about the forged/stamped arms, I have no idea on that one unless they are talking about the lower control arms.

Oh yeah, it was the forged or stamped control arms. I'm not sure what the difference is.

Edit - google has answered this for me

Looks like that 14 piece rebuild kit is out of stock?
