Does Neutral = Tan ?

Is Neutral and Tan the same interior color?
I want to make sure I’m looking for the correct interior color.

Not really. I believe 97s and earlier had tan. Later years had a beige or "light neutral". Look for neutral.

Interesting. I thought there was a tan. If not, I suppose the neutrals are of different shades over the years. Meaning, if one has light neutral (like myself), I just can't pick any neutral when searching for a replacement part (or paint). I need to ensure it is light neutral, rather than medium neutral (which I assume is a darker shade).

The tan/beige/neutral looks like the gray; when you are just looking at the truck they look very similar. If you have, say, tan visors or plastic parts, though, in the gray interior, or vice versa, the difference is quite noticeable.
I got a passenger side rear seat belt last summer, to replace the jammed up one in the crew cab, and didn't realize it was gray instead of tan, until I looked at it in good sunlight recently. And I had the deluxe visor clips in both colors; next to each other it's easy to see the difference.
One complicating factor: a vehicle that has been smoked in a lot, will have a yellow cast to everything in the interior... making "gray" look like "tan".

So in the end Neutral does equal Tan, at least when your trying to find interior trim parts.

It looks like I have 522, which is Neutral Leather.

I was looking at it today, with an overcast sky, doors open, and it looked more neutral than tan. But at night, with interior lights on it looks tan. The dash looks tan in any light. It may be the way the plastic is aging.
