So here’s the situation:
My dad bought a 1995 K1500 Suburban when I was born in 1996 and drove it to 300k miles.
The transmission went out on it and ended up parting it out about a year ago.
He kicks himself every day for letting it go. So I’m gonna bring it back.
So I plan to get my dad an impressive 60th birthday present.
What better than to replace his beloved “Big Car”
So I‘m going to use this to document the build. His 60th birthday is March 20th 2022, so I have time on my side.
I now need to find a Suburban.
Here are some of my ideas I need help with:
- Manual transmission swap
- Remove carpet and line-x floor
AND maybe a diesel swap. Especially if I could find a manual drivetrain attached.
Anyone with experience doing any of these?
Other plans are:
- Tow mirrors
- Brush guard
- Upgraded stereo
- Power inverters mounted inside
- Amber marker cab lights
- Roof rack
Any help or ideas will be appreciated. Especially in regards to the manual and diesel swap.
I have no mechanical skill, so this will all be farmed out. I’m in Dallas, TX if anyone knows a reputable shop, or has a line on a great GMT400 Suburban!
Thanks guys
