I left the needles stock color but backed "em with orange LED's and blue LED's in the cluster:

The tach and speedometer are the only needles lit up. The others are whatever back lighting they are getting from the blue LEDs.

I ran out of orange and had to order more.

The dimming is a bit messed up because I blew out my PWM dimmer and was just using a 10K pot. New PWM modules are on the way...

Not sure if this was covered in the thread, but how does one go about maintaining gauge accuracy when taking needles off and putting them back on? Taking a picture seems too inaccurate, but thats just me. Mainly because of the gas gauge.

How does one go about taking off the gauge "motor" (actual part that moves the needle, unsure of formal name) and then accurately reinstalling everything? Some pictures people posted (2000CCSB) showed that motor removed in order to put LEDs behind the needle. I feel like there is so much room for error.

I guess thats the one thing keeping me from doing any of this, is knowing whether or not I can VERY accurately reassemble everything. please help!

I just wanna change my tach and speedo needles, and I have what I believe are "Esky" (more rounded base of the needle) needles I pulled from a friends cluster that I wanna try and get teal/green.

The only accurate way to set the needles is with a scanner and mechanical oil pressure guage.

Next best thing is take a picture or a piece of tape by each needle and use a pencil to mark where it sits while truck is running.

I think this is the best way to remove the needles and get them back in the accurate spot. I've changed a bunch of stepper motors in nbs but I've never pulled needles in an obs. I assume they stop like the nbs but I could be wrong.

Nope. Gmt400 needles can spin all the way around.
