Can anyone tell me what this is on the front axle?

1992 K2500 , Does anyone know what the 3 wired harness thing on the front axle above the 4x4 actuator is? Mines cut, and on the frame harness side, mine only has 2 wires. It appears there used to be 3 because one of the pins is pulled out. Ive traced them all the back to the firewall connector and there's not a cut or broken wire that would've filled that missing spot. The 4 wheel drive works but you can't engage it unless the truck is turned off or it grinds. Im wondering if those cut wires have anything to do with it. I've attached pics.

I think some of the earlier trucks had a switch for the console lights like that. I wonder if your axle is stuck on, causing the engagement issue. Two unrelated issues possibly.
