I've never had any type of heater to plug in, but I found this one local for $3. Does anyone know if it's worth messing with? It'll be on a 98 1500 Z71. I live in central Kansas, doesn't get real cold but could be handy at times. Can't get a picture loaded, it's a sure start engine heater. Plugs into outlet, hooks into coolant line.

Dunno what kind of heater you're referring to without pic, link, or more specific name. I'm in central Kansas as well, Hutchinson area. Have always considered putting a block heater on my 90 just always never seem to have time and/or motivation to put one on. Nice to let lots of other moving parts and fluids warm up for a few minutes anyways on really cold days, as opposed to just the coolant. Just my .02c

Looks like Kansas gets pretty cold, around Michigan we get alot of Canadian trucks that came factory with block heaters, I'd be skeptical of a 3$ part. Unless it's led lights on eBay. Keeping coolant warm is definitley nice on 10 degree nights. But im not sure thats how id go about it.

I'm in se kansas. I've got those circulator heaters on a couple of my older carbed farm trucks. Alot easier starts and the heaters blow warm alot quicker.
Can't say I'd bother putting one on a fuel injected truck though.

Thanks everyone, its for sale on Facebook. New in box but never been used. Even if I did put it on I'd still let the truck warm up before driving. Figured for $3 it would be worth a try.

I'm in WI where the highs are below 0 for multiple days on end during the winter. I dont even need to use a block heater. 20 degrees feels like a heat wave to me.
