Hi I have a 96 k2500 with a 350 vortec and 4:11 rear end gears. I have no clue what's going on. It sucks down gas worse then anything I've seen. Has new plugs wires distributer cap and rotor button. Any ideas? Only thing it has done to it is a k and n air filter

you should do A fuel pressure check its relatively easy to do if you have the tools, If not i would grab a a mechanics mirror and a flaslight and open the butterfly valve to see if theres raw fuel in your intake, if there is, your spider injectors are shot.

I had a 96 SCLB K3500 that had a freshly rebuilt 5.7, 4L80E and 4.10's with 235/85/16 tires. 12.7 was the best I ever got. What are your real MPG numbers?

What are you actually getting? 3/4 ton 4 wheel drive usually = 12 mpg

My 98 got 14.6 highway empty on a 5 hour trip and 12.2 on the way back pulling a mastercraft ski boat. I have 4.10s, 35s, and a 5 speed. If its worse than that, you may need to be concerned. That is corrected mpg also, my speedometer/odometer is off ALOT from the tire size.

If I did the math right I'm getting 11.2 on highway and 9 in the city. I use a quarter of a tank going to work and back wich is a 20 min commute with traffic. My truck almost seems like it's lost some power on take off. May be something t do with it but not sure. I'm not extremely mechanically minded.

Your highway mileage is a little low, but city is average/a little below average. Those numbers aren't all too concerning honestly. I'm not saying there's nothing wrong mechanically, but your MPG numbers are not too far off par.
