another front end question, this time cv axle

are they supposed to be able to come apart like get longer? The PS on my truck flops out when it's off the truck, like it opens up, and when you turn it it trys to twist the boot, when you hold it back closer together and turn it then it just moves as one solid unit as it should.

sound like it's going out or bad?

It never made any popping noises or anything like front wheel drive cars do when they go bad.

I've never experienced any play with mine like that when I've had them off.

me either, the DS doesn't do it. As soon as I removed the PS from the main axle tube flange it flopped down and did that. now you can tell be looking at it it looks funny compared to the other and IMO I think it's bad. I'd like to just change both but maybe I'll just change that one in case.
