Edit/observation: The representative pic east302 posted shows a pre '92 truck with two options I've never seen one with; Rear defrost and the ultra base instrument cluster with dummy lights in place of the gages. Do those even exist?

Crutchfield had another picture on their site. It looks like the picture was just a mock-up and probably a bit of a Frankenstein.

Otherwise, yeah that’d have been a pretty well-optioned stripper truck. Not sure when they added the “max” button on the a/c or if it overlapped the use of moonies.

Oh yeah, I didn't even catch the '91 and up HVAC head unit. I've seen that cluster in sales literature, just have never seen it out in the wild. Even my buddy who bought a stripper GMT400 brand new in '90 said his cluster had gauges.. According to him, he didn't opt for anything, wanted the cheapest GM truck he could get.

I've seen one, not in person but in a GovPlanet listing for a military surplus truck. It was some sort of airport/base taxi vehicle and it was completely bare bones.

That is interesting, a well optioned W/T, now that's something you don't every day (or never at all lol). It's probably just a generic photo that they pieced together. Or it actually may be legit...

I don't think special order options were all that unusual. My W/T came with Radio, AC, Cruise Control and a cup holder. Some guys just ordered what they wanted on the basic truck.

Since GM uses a 1.5din radio in these trucks, a single din unit with a filler will have to be used unless you want to do a double din. Then you will have to buy a dash kit, cut up the dash, and plastic weld the new bezels into it. Lots of work to be done, and there are a few write ups on here
The metra 95-3003 kit is just a bezel, can cut your stock dash bezel and pop a non disk media double din right in. Have to modify inner dash a bit for a full sized double din tho and that's not too bad to do.

That would be my last ditch effort, especially if you want any sq at all, any of those Android headunits ( I know a PI isnt a headunit so maybe it's sq is better) have HORRIBLE sq and even less wattage than a stock radio.

I have always wanted to try fitting a marine radio or RV radio in the dash of my 94. New engine went in last month and tires went on this last weekend, so my bank account is still recovering from that.

Looks from the specs like it does not have the speakerphone option but will play tunes from the phone via bluetooth Otherwise looks like a fine solution to fit right over the factory radio spot in the older panel. Good idea if you want to do without the hands free phone.

The specs say "hands free bluetooth music " which is a not so nice way of saying it doesn't do phone.
