Just got new weatherstrip for the tailgate area of my 95 k2500 suburban. Is adhesive required for some of the weatherstrip install?

Took a quick look in the FSM and saw no mention of using adhesive. Any of you have experience with this and willing to give me some advice?

On my 98 it just clamps onto the lip (or whatever it’s called) like the front door seals. No adhesive, but I don’t see that it would harm anything if you did.

If it has painted dots on it, those help line up the interior foam backing rods per this TSB. Sorry, I don’t have a better copy of it.
