Adhesive tape recommendations for tailgate band/emblem

I am looking for recommendations for the proper adhesive tape to re-attach my tailgate band/emblem.
I bought some 3M two sided adhesive tape for auto trim, however it was far too thin. When removing the factory adhesive I noticed it was probably 1/8"-3/16" thick. Any recommendation of a product would be appreciated. Thanks.

Did you try 3M double sided foam tape? They make different thicknesses. Otherwise VHB is similar

Agree on the 3M foam tape. I have also started using this lately, with good results:

IMO, use the 3M adhesion promoter too. That stuff will make the tape stick like it's welded.

I have seen some driving around but not near as many as the Chevy ones. Mostly on early model trucks. As far as I've seen no one reproduces them or even a blank one

I have never seen a GMC version... I would pay good gold for one though.

I believe they were only on '88-'91 trucks as well. Very rare to see.
