Truck has been upgraded to 134A. I think that was done around 2010. I got the truck in 2018. But it Been in family since day one.

anyhow around mid 2019 i had it sent to mechanic to have ac recharged / serviced. they found a busted o ring / leak. Fast forward to today. I really only drive it in hunting season, so i have noticed tho over time goten progressively worse as in no air now lol. Put 3 cans of refrigeratant in. And nothing ! compressor does not come on. Somehow im thinking when i installed my winch & light bar i know i knicked the radiator pretty good with metabo blade. would that make the ac not work at all anymore? how bad of a job is it changing it out

It’s not hard, but I only have experience with the pre 96 models, if that’s what you have. Those threaded connections can be a PITA so be patient with those of you go that route.

A metabo, what drill, grinding wheel. Next time slide piece plywood in front, cheaper than new condenser..you do mean you knicked or damaged the condenser? Not the radiator. What year is your truck?

Has it worked since the damage? Since you damaged it and was not working. The next step I would have done is a pressure test for any leaks, and if that area in condenser burnt toast. You may have just added your 134 to ozone layer. Or it's still contained in the system but something else is preventing operation. You need speacial tools and someone with diagnostics. Your problem has reached the next level of headache.

Don’t know what brand you’re looking for, but I went through 2 AC Delco compressors from Rock Auto in a little over a year. Clutch started to seize up on both. I ended up going with a brand from Amazon the last time. No issues so far.

Just to clarify, I’ve never changed a condenser, if that’s what you’re referring to.

If this was my dads ( mr. Scary dangerous) i would get my ac service set and check for any pressure from your can service. That will probly determine which road you go next. Leaky system or failed ac componet.

I honestly dont know if it has or not. I did the winch work in november 2020. Since hunting season ended in d3cember , it has only been driven about 500 miles. Maybe 20 miles a week.. most of that is running to grocery store or drs apt. i hardly ever dont have the window down. Even in my 2020 f250 i drive with windows down. but last month i had to make a run on the interstate & my daughter was with me so we had the windows up. Thats when i knew something was up.
