Vortec Lover convinced me to make a build thread so here we go!

This is my pickup as it sits in my garage.

My father bought this new off the local chevy dealer's lot when it was brand new and gave it to me when I started driving. The only stock pictures I have is when I got it stuck in a feild lol.

The stock GMC grilles suck so then an idea was born and it had my dad shaking his head.

I went to my local aftermarket shop and bought 32foot of chrome door edge guard for a dollar a foot. I kept it in one long peice so i could handle it easier. There is 30 foot of horizontal slats on the GMC grills but i got extra incase i screwed some up.

This is the factory set up, and yes that is my 2x4 buried in a feild.

Next you just need a sharp razor knife and a some time to do it right. Pick an end and slip it over the front of one of the horizontal slats either on the left or right side. Simply push the door edge guard onto the slat all the way across.

Then leaving the guarding on the grill cut it off the roll leaving extra material so you can cut a little bit off at a time to get the right fit.

You will be able to do all the horizontal slats, the ones on the left and right of the GMC Badge, and the little one in the M too. No need to heat it up to make the clue stick because blow dryers will make the clear film on the guard to shrivel up, the natural heat from the motor wont cause it to shrivel but will get it too stick really well.

Sorry the tuck is dirty because it is quite cold this weekend.

slightly unconventional but gets compliments left and right when people ride in my truck for the first time at night.

Its a 12 inch slim LED door strip, with 3M tape to stick it under the door. Drill a hole in the bottom of the door and then one in the black metal panel behind the door panel. Route the wire thought the hole so you can wire it to the courtesy lights in the doors so when you open the doors and the domes turn on the led strip lights up the ground under the door.

Upper corner light mod.

these are the top ones.

you need to cut up the factory bottom light to put the socket peice thing onto your top ones with a 2 part epoxy.

You need to drill a hole big enough for the bulb to fit in. Finnally you then go to the junk yard to get some more corner light sockets, more wire the better, match the wire colors and your set.

more orange lights now!

Bought Anzo performance headlight, parking lamps and corners from a local shop. Fit in like a factory set up.

note that my paint color is very sensitive to light and angle so it looks like the wiper arms are way off color but compared to the front of the hood which sits at a similiar angle is a perfect match

I thought I wanted to go with a camo theme on my truck but that was short lived, these are the stampede mud flaps I bought a while ago.

finnally decided I wanted to get rid of the camo but didn't wana buy new ones because I liked the style of the these and didn't wana buy new ones. so I bought some new rust-oleum for plastic and painted em.

althought it wasn't that good of a paint finish I decided to buff and wax it to try it and see if it would help, luckly it did.
