Gotcha. I guess I don't worry about it where I live. Rust is basically non existent here. I did spend a lot of shop time in northeast Wisconsin and saw plenty of what you are referring to. I have changed dozens of Draw-Tite recievers that were rusted from inside out. I think they must have had a few-year bad run with their powder coating guys. It doesn't seem to be much of a problem any more.

That frame looks really good. One of these days my '67 will get the same resto-treatement you're giving the '88.

We don't hardly have rust issues around here, but we do have constant moisture. Powdercoating doesn't hold up well if it gets moisture underneath it, as you've seen.

What did you use for the acid? Prep and Etch?
The KBS stuff came with it's own system, so it was part of it.

Since the weather has been crap, I've been travelling to visit out of area friends, as well as prepping the 98 for sale (which sold on 1/31). In that time I was able to blast the axles, and then started tearing them down. Soon they will get coated and re-assembled.

It was 8-lug F/R, he's ditching the 14FF w/Detroit that was in it, picked up a 14SF to put back in. The front is a matter of rotors & hubs to swap back, for 6-lug F/R, see post #461 for explanation.

You saying that now rings a bell.

The Draw tite sticker on mine still looked good!
