I have a 1990 k1500 4x4 and the actuator went bad and I have had a few people tell me of a cup type thing I could insert and it would eliminate the need to reverse and all that going into 4wd and coming out of.

Anyone know what this is?

the one in your truck should be a thermal actuator you can change it to the newer electric actuator there is some wiring involved with that, has a different style plug on it.

I put the electric one in both my 88 and 94 and it was much better...instant response. The wiring harness is easy to install. I did each one in less than an hour.
