In the days before the internet, or 'Autotrader', or even the 'Buy&Sell', when Reggie Jackson, ('Mr. October'. 'Mr. Chevrolet'.) traveled with the team from town to town, instead of doing what the rest of the team was doing, he would rent a car, & travel up & down the back alleys, looking for cars stuffed into old broken down garages, or under tarps, in carports. Just a glimpse of a grill, a taillight, a bumper, anything that caught his interest, would have him checking it out. He added many vehicles to his once massive collection this way. Sadly, many of those perished in a fire some years ago.
Anyways, his first rule when scoping out a vehicle was..."Never rely on the mileage to indicate the condition of the vehicle."
How some people treat their vehicle varies greatly. A vehicle with 25000 miles, & an owner that doesn't know, care, or always drives like a bat outa hell, will be in a lot worse condition than an exact vehicle with 250,000 miles & owned by someone that gets what it takes to maintain it.
