454 throttle body on 350 vortec?

I see people putting the 454 throttle body on the 350 vortec quite often, is there any gains?

For unknown reasons I have been under the impression that they are the same thing with a different bolt pattern? The overall volumetric efficiency of the engine is only capable of being so high...
Fuel delivery is controlled by the computer. Doesn't make good sense anyways. If that actually WORKED then every hotrod 350 would be running a 1050 Dominator, but it doesn't work that way.
