4.3L Vortec Info

I have a 1997 4.3L Vortec CPI engine. It is creeping up on 250,000 miles. Burning little more than 1/2 Qt of oil every 500 miles. I'm looking to replace it.

I can buy a 2008 4.3L vortec with 5,000 miles on it for $500 from a junk yard an hour away. (Via A online junkyard search engine)

Besides swapping over the intake and the cpi, what else would be needed? Has anyone done this?

i would think you would need the pcm and wiring harness

Id done some research on swapping 96+ vortec heads on a 93 block. I do believe that what you want to do will work but I'm not positive. I couldn't find what I was looking for here. I ended up going to S10 and Astro van forums.
