I'm assuming that the "70mph" you stated is actual speed; indicated speed might be different.

3.42 gears would give you ~1900 at 70mph on 30s.

I can't imagine it would have 3.08 gears, but maybe; it would tach ~1700 at 70mph if so.
Thanks for the info, I need to crawl under and look for a diff tag I’m just too lazy lol. I would assume 3.43s but I’m not sure

Check out this calculator, it's the best one I've ever seen for getting an idea for what your new gears will be like.

I'll add that I have 4.88s and 37s, I turn about 2200-2500 rpms on the highway, and it's perfectly fine and pulls good. That's with a 350 but it's also with a ton of extra weight and wind resistance compared to your truck.

with 4.10 at 30" total tire diameter and a 4L60 you'll be right around 2150 RPM on the freeway at 70 MPH. That doesn't seem too unreasonable to me, 4.10 is my target gear ratio for better acceleration, daily driveability, and better towing for what it's worth.

~2200 RPM is my target for 70MPH in OD.

I pick my gear ratios for my vehicles based loosely on that target, particularly the 4L60E vehicles b/c in 3rd the RPMs are still reasonable (~3000RPM at 65MPH) and usable for towing.

Above 3500RPM these engines make more fan noise than torque.

A lot of truth to this. I approach this in a similar way. I have a 5.3 swapped into mine, so I have a little more power than the original TBI. But I still strive for a reasonable driving experience for highway given it's usually a longer drive.
