I recently purchased a 1998 gmc Sierra 2500. I've rebuilt the front end as the bushings, ball joints, and control arms were toast. I now see I have a slow head gasket leak. So the heads are coming off. I've read about how factory timing was retarded which explains some of the lame performance. Can someone suggest a cam that's a solid upgrade over the stock profile? I plan to run Gibson shorty headers.

Here are a list of cams from Comp Cams.

Call Comp and ask them. We can give you all kinds of internet opinion, but opinions are like a**holes. Everyone has one and they all stink, internet opinions doubly so.

Clearly this is a big-block. L29?

BEFORE you buy an aftermarket cam...have someone lined-up to tune the computer programming, and consider what you're going to be using for fuel injectors.
